What to bring for the Inca Trail?

• Backpack, sleeping bag, foam mattress (usually provided by the tour company), rain jacket, strong footwear such as hiking boots with ankle support, one complete change of clothing, sweater, jacket (something warm), water bottle (metal or nalgene type) and sterilizing tablets (Micropur are recommended and can be bought in local pharmacies in Cusco), flashlight and batteries, broad-brim or peaked cap, sunglasses and high factor sun protection, insect repellent, toiletries and toilet paper, selection of small snacks, chocolate, dried fruit, biscuits etc, camera and spare batteries (nowhere to charge your camera during the trek). You also have to bring your original passport with you on the trek. Photocopies are no longer acceptable.

Program details:

Cusco / Km 104 / Wiñayhuayna Transfer from the hotel to the train station with direction KM 104, the beginning of the Inca trail. Through this Inca Trail connection we will, with the help of the professional guide, get a better understanding of the archeological remains of Chachabamba (2270m / 7448f) and for a short moment we will go up to the highest part of this connection where Wiñayhuayna (2650m / 8694f) is situated. This is the most important archeological site within the park of Machu Picchu. The Inca Trail continues to la Puerta del Sol or Inti Punku, the observation point of all this natural charm, the sanctuary of Machu Picchu (2400m / 7874f). We will be in the Machu Picchu area only for a short time, because we have to continue to the village of Machu Picchu, the place where we will spend the night in a hotel and some time to enjoy Las Aguas Calientes in the village. Hiking time: 06 hours / Included: lunch box and dinner

Aguas Calientes / Santuario de Machupicchu / Cusco Around 6 am we will leave with a professional guide in a tourist bus and we will head to the archeological centre of Machu Picchu, the place where we will get to know more about the Empire of the Incas. This presentation of Machu Picchu will take place as early as possible in order to give the visitors some free time to enjoy and explore the place. After that we will get together with the group in the village of Machu Picchu and take the train to the city of Cusco. Included: breakfast / Lunch

Not included:

• Bus goes downhill from Machu Picchu ruins to Aguas Calientes where the train station is situated; additionally you can pay the cost of $6.00 for this service. Other possibility is a walk of an hour.

2. Peru Buddy states that no refunds will be given if a participant decides to cancel the trip prior to departure or during the trip (except from the entrance ticket to Machu Picchu and the train tickets from Aguas Calientes to Cusco).
3. A participant must declare if he/she has any sickness or medical disorder and must bring his/her own medicines.
4. Peru Buddy can not be held responsible for natural problems (for instance a land slide) or other problems not due to Peru Buddy (for instance late train departure).
5. All participants must bring their own passport and, if applicable, their student card ´ISIC´.
