What to bring for the Inca Trail?
- Backpack, sleeping bag, foam mattress (usually provided by the tour company), rain jacket, strong footwear such as hiking boots with ankle support, one complete change of clothing, sweater, jacket (something warm), water bottle (metal or nalgene type) and sterilizing tablets (Micropur are recommended and can be bought in local pharmacies in Cusco), flashlight and batteries, broad-brim or peaked cap, sunglasses and high factor sun protection, insect repellent, toiletries and toilet paper, selection of small snacks, chocolate, dried fruit, biscuits etc, camera and spare batteries (nowhere to charge your camera during the trek). You also have to bring your original passport with you on the trek. Photocopies are no longer acceptable.

day 01
Cusco / Km 82 / Huayllabamba
In the morning we leave the city of Cusco (3350m) with a tourist bus and go to the Sacred Valley of the Incas to Km 82, the place where we will start the Inca Trail and where we will meet with the whole group doing this trek. Miskay community will be the place where we will stop for lunch and get a short explanation of the archeological complex of Llactapata. The next place where we will stop for the night will be the camp of Huayllabamba at a height of 3100m.

day 02
Huayllabamba / Llulluchapampa / Pacaymayu
An early morning start of our excursion is favorable for hiking uphill, always gradually, through the Valley of Llulluchapampa (3850m), to the highest point of this section which is called the pass of Warmihuañusca (4200m), the place where we will have great views of the mysterious Nevado de Verónica and the rest of the Inca Trail. After a short break we will go down to the deep valley of Pacaymayu (3500m), the place where we will camp for the night.

day 03
Pacaymayu / Chaquicocha / Wiñayhuayna
We have a beautiful day for walking through the tropical forest and ecological levels between the roads of Puna, Quechua y Yunga. We will visit the most important archeological groups as well. The nearest pass is called Runkuraqay (3900m), the place where we will enjoy enchanting scenery, tropical forest across Inca engineering build by our ancestors. We will visit the archeological remains of Runquraqay, Sayacmarca, Phuyupatamarca and finally Wiñayhuayna (2650m), the place for our last camp.

day 04
Wiñayhuayna / Machupicchu / Cusco
Alter having enjoyed our breakfast at around 5:00am, we will be heading with our flashlight in the direction of la Puerta del Sol (Inti Punku, 2780m), where we will watch the Sun rise over Machupicchu and Waynapicchu. At the archeological site of Machupicchu (2400m) it is the best moment to enjoy the breathtaking cultural charm. You will have some free time to spend on the archeological site before we will take the train to return to Cusco.
Hiking time: 03 hours / Included: breakfast / Lunch.

Not included:
- Bus goes downhill from Machu Picchu ruins to Aguas Calientes where the train station is situated; additionally you can pay the cost of $6.00 for this service. Other possibility is a walk of an hour.
Conditions:
- All participants will have to carry their own back packs.
- Peru Buddy states that no refunds will be given if a participant decides to cancel the trip prior to departure or during the trip (except from the entrance ticket to Machu Picchu and the train tickets from Aguas Calientes to Cusco).
- A participant must declare if he/she has any sickness or medical disorder and must bring his/her own medicines.
- Peru Buddy can not be held responsible for natural problems (for instance a land slide) or other problems not due to Peru Buddy (for instance late train departure).
- All participants must bring their own passport and, if applicable, their student card ´ISIC´.
